Microbiology / Immunology Interest Group: Journal Clubs

All of the participating departments and many of the individual labs hold weekly journal clubs. Additionally, the Interest Groups offer journal clubs for the first year and upper level graduate students.

Biological Chemistry and Molecular Biology students select from a range of journal clubs. The Microbiology / Immunology Interest Group offers at least one or two journal clubs each year.

Students participating in the Microbial Pathogenesis Training Grant present a journal club series each summer

Recent examples include:

  • Microbial Pathogenesis
  • Bacterial Genomes
  • Adhesion and Signaling Molecules in Metastasis
  • Nuclear Hormone Receptors
  • Nitric Oxide Biology

The commensal bacteria, B.fragilis (green), closely associates with host intestinal epithelial cells (individual cell nuclei in blue, epithelial cell membrane in red).
